So I have the drive installed and running for several months, no problems. However several months is trivial unless running 24/7 servers which this is not intended for so the limited stars, if it smokes I will comeback and say something else. Mounted in external case ( Wiebe TechTBS12T ).

This didn’t come with any jumpers, so is useless until I buy some. I’ve never had this before with any drive. Rating: 1 / 5

I tried several times to get this drive to do what it’s supposed to do, which is, simply store data. Immediately after installation, I ran a test on the drive using the computer BIOS’s built in test/diagnostics functionality. After the 2+ hour test, it seemed to pass. Immediately, I attempted to use 2 different drive cloning utilities that worked seamlessly on every other drive I’ve cloned. Both utilities failed and both reported several “unable to write to sector xxx” messages at the end of the operation. Since these drives are large, each attempt took well over an hour each. I wasted a total of over 12 hours of my valuable time doing something that seems so simple. I’m very disappointed, to say the least. WD has always been one of my “first choice” picks for hard drives.

I purchased this drive to use in a portable eSATA enclosure. The drive does not work, not even with Windows 7. I tried it in two separate eSATA enclosures in which I know other drives work. This drive does not initialize and is not recognized by Win7. If you are purchasing this for use in an eSATA enclosure, I suggest you choose a different drive. Rating: 1 / 5

i’ll tell you if the product is good or not when i have it (assuming that will happen). i placed the order 10 days ago and the package is i don’t know where, the last tracking info is from 4 days ago. i know the crappy performance of USPS is not amazon’s (of manufacturer’s) fail but it certainly degrades the overall purchase experience.
