I needed an adapter to connect some test equipment to my computer as the computer did not have a parallel port. The packaging, in more than one location, said “Supports standard PC parallel port operation” and “Supports. . . XP”. IT DOES NOT!!! It only supports USB printing. I contacted the vendor, CableToGo, to request an XP driver and was told that no XP driver was ever made (98ME is the limit of drivers supplied) and that for XP this adapter was for PRINTING ONLY!It may be good at printing but as an adapter it is terrible. What a waste of time. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BECAUSE OF MISLEADING PRODUCT LITERATURE. Rating: 1 / 5

This Cables to Go usb to parallel adapter is for those with the common 2′ish inch width ends on their printer cable, and are faced with a newer computer that has no mate on the back, only the USB port on the back that most newer printers connect to . And if,like me, you’re faced with no parallel (wide) connection on the back of your new computer, and have a perfectly good printer, then this adapter is for you – well made, nice design, and all you have to do is connect the two wide ends, and then plug directly into a rear USB port on the while the computer is running. The printer practically instantly spits out a test page! Very pleased overall and feel strongly this adapter will perform on 95% of the systems out there that require this fix — something the manufactures should ask about when setting up the system for novices
