I purchased this Laptop on 27 November 2009. At first it was amazing, thin, light, solid and perfectly designed. It was fast enough ( not a performance laptop), and the specs were very good. But when I use video chatting I realized that the mic makes a lot of noise which was bad for me because I’ll use it a lot. Then I ordered a replacement but I had the same problem with that one also. I’m not sure that this is a constant problem or I was very unlucky. Another minor problem is the keyboard but it is kind of common for ASUS laptops that keyboard is noisy and more flexy than normal but was not a big problem for me. So I returned the ASUS UL50VT, unfortunately. I must say that the real amazing thing is “AMAZON. COM”. I am really surprised with the service. I think as long as it is available at AMAZON I will not purchase anything from any other reseller or store. Rating: 3 / 5

I purchased and returned this laptop to Amazon, taking a 15 percent restocking fee hit. So, I obviously was not satisfied with my purchase. First, I will list the positive aspects:The Positives: 1. Lightweight 2. Long Battery Life 3. Not much unnecessary software pre-installed 4. Nice Style 5. Restore disks included. The Negatives:1. I returned the laptop largely due to the inferior speakers when I compare it to my 4 year old HP laptop. The speakers sound similar to an iPhone. I find this completely unacceptable considering the price point of this laptop. 2. The quality of the display also was inferior to my old HP laptop. The screen seems washed-out to me. So, in the end, I purchased another HP laptop with a Blu-ray drive that met my expectations. Rating: 2 / 5

After doing a good amount of research, I found this laptop to be a good overall product for a reasonable price. The processor speed, memory capacity and functionality makes it great for students and those who are fairly mobile. The hardware is of good quality and I have recently noticed ASUS has been rated at the top of the market for their PCs/laptops. Though I hate to spend money, I also like to have tools that to the job without hassles. So, I usually bet on getting a new laptop every 3-4 years due to changes in technology and software and I think this model will be more than sufficient. Don’t just trust me, do your own research, compare, talk to people who know computers well, consider what you are looking for and give this laptop a chance. I think you will find it to be hard to beat if you want a good laptop for a reasonable price. Rating: 5 / 5

I am kind of disappointed. I had to send the computer after not even a month to ASUS because it was freezing up several times during a days work. It has been completely cleaned out by ASUS and I had to start all over and put all my files in again.
I got it back Monday and I had problems again (freezing up) and I have to shut it down manually, I will try for another few days and see.

I bought this laptop a few months back for school. I spent weeks looking at laptops and this one outperforms any others in its price range by a long shot. To find a comparable laptop, that also has ASUS’s reputation for quality products, you would otherwise pay $1200 easily or more. Battery life is definitely as promised, which means I don’t have to carry the wall-adapter with me on campus. Definitely worth the price! Rating: 5 / 5
